Najat Al-Saghira - نجاة الصغيره
Najat Al-Saghira – نجاة الصغيره
Najat Mohamed Mahmoud Hosni El Baba, known as “Najat Al-Saghira,” is an Egyptian artist born in 1936 [1], and the older sister of the actress Soad Hosny. Biography
Born on August 11, 1936, her name is Najat Mohamed Hosni El Baba. Her father was Syrian and worked as a calligrapher. Her sister was the actress Souad Hosni, and her brother was the violinist Ezz El-Din Hosni, who worked with Umm Kulthum.
The first to call her “Little Najat” was the journalist Fikri Abaza, who wrote about her at the beginning of her career, saying, “She is a young girl who needs care until she matures, and she needs attention until she grows up, while preserving her talent and maintaining her freshness.”
When Najat turned nineteen, her father assigned her older brother, Ezz El-Din, to train her to memorize Umm Kulthum’s songs so that she could perform them later in the band’s concerts. Najat reached such a level of proficiency that she was able to imitate Umm Kulthum, and a new stage began in her artistic career. Mamoun El-Shenawy presented her with the song “Describe Love to Me,” composed by Mahmoud El-Sherif. At that time, Najat surrounded herself with intellectuals such as Mohamed El-Tabei, Mamoun El-Shenawy, Kamel El-Shenawy, and Fikri Abaza. Najat thus formed a group of advisors from her friends who advised her and illuminated the path for this brilliant talent. This, in addition to her extreme meticulousness in her work and her intense, almost obsessive, attention to detail, played a major role in her continued success.
She sang for many great composers. At the beginning of her artistic career, she sang for the great composers Zakaria Ahmed, Ahmed Sedky, Mahmoud El-Sherif, her brother Ezz El-Din Hosni, Raouf Zehni, and others. Then she met the late composer Mohamed Abdel Wahab with the melody “Kul…” This was the beginning of her artistic career, and she sang for composers such as Sayed Mekkawy, Helmy Bakr, Baligh Hamdi, and Kamal El-Taweel, who was one of the best musicians who understood her voice, as well as the composer Mohamed El-Mogy and Hany Shenouda.

Najat Al-Saghira
Born August 11, 1936
From an artistic family, her father, Mohamed Hosni, was a calligrapher with artistic interests. Her sister was the artist Souad Hosni, and her brother, Ezz El-Din Hosni, was a violinist who worked with the great artist Umm Kulthum. He was also a composer at the radio station and had many compositions. When Najat reached the age of nineteen, her father assigned her older brother, Ezz El-Din, to train her to memorize songs. Umm Kulthum later performed the song at the band’s concerts. Najat reached such a level of mastery that she could imitate Umm Kulthum, which caught the attention of journalist Fikri Abaza, who urged the government to support her. Najat became independent from her siblings and began a new phase in her artistic career. Ma’moun El-Shenawy presented her with the song “Describe Love to Me,” composed by Mahmoud El-Sherif. At that time, Najat surrounded herself with intellectuals such as Mohamed El-Tabei, Ma’moun El-Shenawy, Kamel El-Shenawy, and Fikri Abaza. Najat thus formed a group of advisors from among her friends who guided and enlightened this brilliant talent. This, in addition to her extreme meticulousness and almost obsessive attention to detail in her work, played a significant role in her continued success. She sang for many great composers. At the beginning of her career, she sang for the great composers Zakaria Ahmed, Ahmed Sedky, Mahmoud El-Sherif, her brother Ezz El-Din Hosni, and Raouf Zehni, among others. Then she met the late composer Mohamed Abdel Wahab, who composed “Why Was All This?” for her, after which her artistic works continued to flourish. She sang for composers such as Sayed Mekkawy, Helmy Bakr, Baligh Hamdi, and Kamal El-Taweel, who was one of the best composers to understand her voice, as well as Mohamed El-Mogy and Hany Shenouda. Some of her most famous songs include: “Return to Me,” “I Love Him,” “He Lives Next Door,” “I Ask You to Leave,” “Don’t Lie,” “I Stay Up and Worry,” “Why Did You Make Me Love You,” “Wait for Me,” “It’s Hard to Say Goodbye,” “If You Were My Love,” “Eyes of the Heart,” “Remember,” “No Matter How the Days Go By,” and “I Don’t Think So, My Love.” We’ve drifted apart a lot – I dream about you – I love the sea…
