The Life of the Artist Hoda Sultan:

1925: On August 15th, Bahiga Gamalat Fahima Habs El-Haw was born in a simple house in Kafr Abu Gendy, Tanta. She was the third of five children, the eldest being her brother Mohamed Fawzy.

1937: Bahiga had her first encounter with the public when she sang at a school event held at the municipal theater in Tanta. She sang a song by Umm Kulthum, and the audience applauded her enthusiastically. From that moment on, she never abandoned her dream of becoming a singer whom people would always cheer and applaud.

1950: She took her first steps in cinema and signed a contract with Nahas Company for three films. The first film was “Set El-Hassan,” in which she starred alongside Kamal El-Shennawy and Laila Fawzy in the leading roles, and Farid Shawqi in their first collaboration. Her name was changed from Bahiga Gamalat to Hoda Sultan.

1951: Due to her success in her first film, she was able to secure the leading role in her second film, “Hukm El-Qawi,” in which she co-starred with Farid Shawqi and Mohsen Sarhan.

1951: The most famous couple in Egyptian cinema, Farid Shawqi and Hoda Sultan, got married. Their marriage lasted approximately 18 years, and they had two daughters, one of whom is Nahed Farid Shawqi, a film producer today.

1954: Hoda Sultan and Farid Shawqi formed a film production company, “New Era Films,” which began its activity with their film “They Made Me a Criminal.”

1954: The artist Mohamed Fawzy produced one film for his sister Hoda Sultan, “Fatawat El-Husseiniya,” in which she co-starred with her husband Farid Shawqi and which was directed by Niazi Mustafa. 1960: She received the “Publisher’s Award” for the film “A Woman on the Road.”

1969: Hoda Sultan separated from her husband, the artist Farid Shawqi.

1970: She married director Hassan Abdel Salam, whom she met while he was directing her play “Majnoon Batta,” but the marriage did not last long.

1975: She won first prize for a supporting role in films.

1998: In October, the artist Hoda Sultan was honored at the Feature Film Festival.

1998: She was honored at the Arab Music Festival.
